Carina Marquez, MD

Associate Professor

Dr. Carina Marquez is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of HIV, Infectious Diseases, and Global Medicine at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (ZSFG) and the Equity Lead in the UCSF Center For AIDS Research (CFAR). Her research focuses on two areas (1) elucidating TB transmission dynamics in East Africa and developing interventions to improve the TB care continuum and (2) COVID-19 epidemiology in Latinx communities and testing and vaccination interventions to reduce disparities. She is a co-founder of Unidos en Salud, a community-academic partnership between UCSF and the San Francisco Latino Task-COVID 19. She is also the co-PD on a NIH funded RADx-UP initiative to increase uptake of COVID-19 testing in Latinx communities in Merced County and in the Canal District in Marin County (Aliados for la Salud). She is also an ID and HIV specialist and directs the SALUD clinic, a clinic within the Positive Health Practice "Ward 86" at ZSFG, that is dedicated to providing multidisciplinary care to LatinX patients with HIV.
