Dong Heun Lee, MD

Clinical Professor

Dr. Dong Heun Lee is an infectious disease doctor who specializes in managing infections related to solid organ transplant surgeries as well as blood cancers. He also provides primary care for patients living with HIV, including those who have undergone organ transplantation.

In research, Lee has investigated how to improve organ transplants for patients living with HIV. He is interested in boosting the safety of transplantation by reducing the occurrence of disease transmission from organ donors to recipients.

Lee earned his medical degree at Hanyang University in South Korea. He completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in infectious diseases at Drexel University. Prior to joining UCSF, he worked as an infectious disease specialist at Drexel, caring for transplant patients and directing the school's infectious diseases fellowship program.
